Pollen is part of the male reproductive system of plants and participates in the sexual reproduction of plants. Some plants use the wind as a pollen disseminating agent (anemophilous plants). These, during their pollen season, emit huge amounts of pollen into the atmosphere. This pollen can trigger allergic respiratory disease in susceptible individuals.
