Rural Fire Danger - Legal Guidelines

Decree-Law No. 82 of October 13, 2021, defines Rural Fire Danger in Article 43.

In particular, paragraph 2 states that “Rural Fire Danger is described by 'low', 'moderate', 'high', 'very high' and 'maximum' levels” and in paragraph 4 that “in municipalities and periods where the rural fire danger class is 'very high' or 'maximum', the restrictions or conditions provided for in sections II and III of Chapter V apply."

It is stipulated in paragraph 1 that the "competence for determining and advertising the rural fire danger is of IPMA, I.P., and ICNF, I.P." and in paragraph 3 that "the methodology for calculating the rural fire danger and its classes are established in a process manual prepared jointly by IPMA, I. P.,  ICNF, I. P., AGIF, I. P., and ANEPC."
