The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) launches its official web page. The new Institute has integrated the following institutes: Institute of Meteorology (IM), Research Laboratory for Fisheries and Sea (IPIMAR) to date in the National Institute of Biological Resources, I. P., Marine Geology hitherto National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG).
IPMA, I. P., is a public institution integrated in the indirect administration of the State, endowed with administrative and financial autonomy and its own assets. The IPMA, I. P., continuing responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning, under supervision and guardianship of the respective minister. The definition of strategic guidelines and setting goals for the IPMA, I. P., and the monitoring of their implementation, are articulated between members of the Government responsible for the areas of sea and science.
