2017-04-20 (IPMA)
On April 27th, at 9:30 am, a public presentation of the IPSentinel infrastructure will be held at the Auditorium of IPMA in Algés, developed by the General Directorate of Territory (DGT) in partnership with the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The IPSentinel infrastructure aims to store and make available, free of charge, images of the Sentinel satellites acquired over national territory. This infrastructure was developed by DGT in partnership with IPMA and funded by a program of the Directorate-General for Marine Policy (DGPM), made possible through the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Grants). The creation of the IPSentinel infrastructure was motivated by the integrated action of the DGT and IPMA in the policy of active participation of Portugal in the European Earth Observation Program Copernicus, namely in its Collaborative Soil Segment (CollGS).
The event will take place in the morning and will consist of two sessions. The first session will be a presentation of the IPSentinel project and its setting in the Copernicus Program. The second session will present and demonstrate the main features of the IPSentinel portal, namely how to do research by geographical area of interest, type of product or date, how to store your searches and how to search in external catalogs such as SNIG.
The opening session will be attended by the Director General of the Territory, Fernanda do Carmo, the President of the Board of Directors of IPMA, Miguel Miranda, the Director General of Marine Policy (DGPM), Fausto Brito e Abreu and the President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Paulo Ferrão.
