The Minister of Sea visited IPMA Headquarters
On January 28th, the Minister of Sea, Ricardo Serrão Santos, visited IPMA headquarters (Airport). During this visit, the Minister got acquainted with the work developed by the Institute on meteorology, including aeronautical, geophysics, Earth observation, climate and climate change. He also got a better understanding of the human resources and infrastructures available and the opportunities and challenges that IPMA is facing.
The Minister participated in the daily briefing with the Portuguese Civil Protection and visited the operational centre, that operates 24/7 all days of the year focusing on meteorological and seismological surveillance and aviation meteorology. The minister also visited the IT operational support centre and data center.
IPMA is under the oversight and tutelage of the Ministry of Sea.
