Persistence of very hot weather

Since the 23rd of September Portugal Mainland has been under the influence of an anticyclonic regime, centered in France, extended in a ridge to the Atlantic region between the Azores and Madeira. This anticyclonic configuration and the circulation associated have promoted the transport of a hot and dry air mass over the Mainland

September 30th, mainland maximum air temperature average, 33.4°C and maximum air temperature values greater than or equal to 35°C (very hot days) in around 40% of the territory;
October
1st day, mainland maximum air temperature average, 33.4°C and maximum air temperature values greater than or equal to 35°C (very hot days) in around 20% of the territory;
1, 2 and 3th day, the highest maximum air temperature values were exceeded in 15 stations, with the highest value being 37.7°C recorded at the Alvega meteorological station.
It should be noted that on 4th October, 31 stations are under a heat wave and that this heat wave is the 7th of the year, with 3 occurring in Spring and 3 in Summer. According to meteorological forecasts, this heat wave could last until next week and extend to other regions of the Portugal Mainland.
