Marine Assessment

The Working Group on Ecosystem Assessment of Western European Shelf Seas (WGEAWESS) of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) met in Cascais (Portugal), from 28 to 31 March, to continue the work towards implementing Integrated Ecosystem Assessment for marine management. The workshop was attended by 20 researchers from five European countries.

IPMA researchers participate on a study of commonalities between marine communities of the Bay of Biscay and Iberian waters eco-region and on a spatio-temporal ecosystem model of the Portuguese continental shelf. IPMA researchers/collaborators Fátima Borges, Alexandra Silva and Dorota Szalaj participated in the meeting.
