2024-12-17 (IPMA)
The 13th meeting of the Portugal-US Committee on Science, Technology, Energy and the Environment (CTEA)’ took place on 9 November 2024, as part of the Portugal-US Permanent Bilateral Commission.
IPMA was invited to attend by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) as part of its work in monitoring the marine environment, with the presentation ‘Autonomous Ocean Observing Systems’.
The meeting discussed co-operation between the two countries in the areas of space, climate, energy, health, academia, security and the integrity of scientific research. It was an opportunity to confirm the good bilateral relationship, the positive dynamics and the potential for partnership in these areas.
In addition to IPMA, represented by Coordinating Researcher Miguel Santos, participants included the Portuguese Space Agency (Portugal Space), the AIR Centre, AGIF, DGEG, the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the Ministry of Health, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), FCT and Fulbright Portugal.
