Webinar on interaction between aquaculture and the environment, organised by AQUA & AMBI
On 22nd of October 2020, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm*, will take place a webinar, held by our partner CTAQUA, where will be presented the results of AQUA & AMBI first phase project (0240-AQUAAMBI-5-P), as well as the project second phase ongoing work progress (0750-AQUAAMBI 2 -5-P).
The AQUA & AMBI project aims to evaluate and promote the compatibility between aquaculture activity and environmental conservation in the Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia area (Natura 2000 Network). Portugal and Spain have been working to improve strategic and economically sustainable production systems.
Among AQUA & AMBI activities, is a geo-referenced system (GIS) creation for the saline and aquaculture production areas in the project study area, contributing to a sustainable management of these areas.
In addition, researchers are working on identifying, analyzing and evaluating how an environmentally friendly aquaculture can contribute to fostering bird populations and generating ecosystem services.
AQUA & AMBI, also studies different aquaculture models (fish, algae and molluscs) wich promotes environment compatibility.
