The SEAFOODtomorrow project kick-off meeting was organizedin the coordinating institution facilities, i.e. the Portuguese Institute for theSea and Atmosphere (IPMA) in Algés, Portugal, between 21-23 November 2017.This meeting hosted 87 participants from 37 institutions from 16 European countries, togetherwith the Project Officer from the Research Executive Agency (REA) of the European Commission.
During this meeting the guidelines that the project must follow were discussed, together with all activities in the different work packages.This event also aimed to establish a solid team spirit towards effective communication, dissemination and exploitation of results. In light of the previous IPMA leading project (ECsafeSEAFOOD), the SEAFOODtomorrow counts with severalcommon partners, thus anticipating a repetition of the successful outcomes previously achieved, whichare extreme importance to the European economy and society.
SEAFOODtomorrow is an European funding innovation action project, led by IPMA with António Marques as coordinator that started in the 1st November 2017 and will end in 31st October 2020. The project aims to validate and optimize eco-innovative sustainable solutions to improve the socioeconomic and environmental sustainability of the seafood production and processing sectors, whilepreserving seafood quality and safety and promoting seafood consumption in a healthy diet. The consortium is composed by 35 partners from 16 European countries, including 19 research institutes,12 SMEs and 4 Interest association groups.
