The month of April 2018 in mainland Portugal was very rainy, with an average amount of rainfall of 121.2 mm, which corresponds to about 150% of the monthly normal value, this was the 4th rainy April since 2000 (after 2000, 2008 and 2016) and the 14th since 1931.
According to the PDSI Palmer Drought Severity Index, as of April 30, there is still no meteorological drought in the entire territory, with 36.3% of the territory in the severe rain class, 47.1% in the moderate rain class and 16.6% in the rain class weak.
Relative to air temperature, the month is classified as normal, that is, the average value of average air temperature, 13.22°C, was very close to normal (+0.06°C); the mean value of maximum air temperature, 18.47°C, was higher than normal, + 0.29°C, and the mean value of minimum temperature was lower than normal at -0.17°C, the 4th lowest value since 2000.
