High temperatures in Portugal mainland

The period 1 to 11 of April was characterized by high values of maximum temperature, much higher than the normal values for this month

In the period from 1 to 11 April in Portugal mainland, the average values of maximum, average and minimum air temperature were 23.9ºC, 15.9ºC and 7.9ºC, respectively. These values corresponded to anomalies of +5.7°C, +2.7°C and -0.2°C relative to the average values in the period 1971-2000. In particular, the maximum temperature values have been persistently much above normal since day 2.

Day 11 was the hottest, with a mean temperature of 18.9°C, followed by day 10, with 18.6°C. With respect to the maximum temperature on day 11, the average value in continental Portugal was the highest in the period with 28.0°C, higher than 26.7°C on day 10. In the case of the minimum temperature the average value in the country, Was higher than that of day 11, 10.2°C and 9.8°C, respectively.
