Earthquake hit Eastern Mediterranean (Turkey and Greece), caused a tsunami

THE EARTHQUAKE
A strong earthquake occurred offshore Turkey at a distance of 10 km SSE of Bodrum on the night of 2017-07-20 (22:31:12 UTC) with the following parameters: Mw6.7 magnitude, latitude 36.949°N, longitude 27.458ºE and depth of 10.0 km (USGS, source). The event was the result of normal faulting and according to the USGS shakemap (See Fig. 1), the extension of shaking in MM scale is up to VII, corresponding to very strong shaking level, and correlated with light to moderate damage.
Many aftershocks were recorded in the region following the earthquake, some of them with magnitude up to 4.7 Mw.
Light damages on some buildings were reported in Turkey due to the main earthquake shaking, while the Kos Island - Greece suffered the major damages with 2 people died, more than 100 injuries in addition to structural damages on buildings and port.
THE TSUNAMI
The earthquake caused a small tsunami that was recorded at different tide gauge stations along the coast of Turkey and Greece. A maximum wave height of about 0.3m (peak-to-peak) was recorded at Bodrum station (see Fig. 2). Despite the relatively low wave heights, the tsunami caused several damages on some surrounding ports as well as inundations of low-lying near-field coastal zones.
