Jean-François Geleyn has passed away

On 8th January 2015, our colleague and scientist Prof. Jean-François Geleyn has passed away. Jean-François was a visionary on the pan-European co-operation for the development of the regional atmospheric numerical weather prediction (NWP), materialized by the international project ALADIN (http://www.cnrm.meteo.fr/aladin).

Due to his professional skills and also his human dimension, it has influenced many generations of young scientists, leaving a wide scientific legacy in this activity area. In 2011 the European Meteorological Society (EMS) has chosen Prof. Jean-François Geleyn as Laureate of the EMS Silver Medal 2011(http://www.emetsoc.org/awards/silver-medal/jean-francois-geleyn).
