A bivalve survey along the Portuguese south coast was carried out, between 2 and 12 of June 2014, aiming at assessing the status of the bivalve beds of the commercial species, namely the white clam (Spisula solida), striped venus (Chamelea gallina), razor clam (Ensis siliqua) and surf clam (Donax trunculus). The mean fishing yield observed for white clam, striped venus and surf clam showed a positive and highly significant evolution suggesting the possibility of increasing their daily quotas for both local and coastal vessel segments. On the contrary, for razor clam a significant decrease was observed and therefore the interdiction of its exploitation during the next two years is proposed.
